Richard J. Nealis
Born Lombard, IL, December 1, 1952; admitted to bar 1979, IL and U.S. District
Court, Northern District of IL, 1990 Trial Bar, and 1988 U.S. Court of Appeals
for the Seventh Circuit. Preparatory education, University of Illinois,
Champaign-Urbana (B.S., 1975 Finance) Delta Chi Fraternity; legal education,
Lewis University College of Law (n/k/a Northern Illinois University College of
Law), (J.D. 1979); Chicago Kent School of Law, (attended 1982-1984 L.L.M.
program in taxation); Kane County Bar Association, Probate and Elder Law
Committee; Fox Valley Estate Planning Counsel; and active leader in Boy Scouts
of America (1994 to present).
Currently a partner at Nealis & Garrow, P.C., (established 2004), private practice since 1982, and sole
practitioner from 1984 to 2004. A.V. Rated, with practice concentrating in
estate planning and probate in the areas of guardianships, decedents estates,
both representation and administration, contested decedents estates and
guardianships; document preparation, and elder law planning. Also, practice in
the related areas of law including civil litigation; real estate, including
residential, commercial and real estate litigation; corporations; taxation; and
civil appeals.
From 1976 to 1982 worked for trust departments as head of probate administration
of decedent and guardianship estates at Central National Bank of Chicago,
Chicago, Illinois; Beverly Bank, Chicago, Illinois, and Aurora National Bank,
Aurora, Illinois.
